Le Sacre du Printemps
99 years ago, a remarkable premiere of experimental dance & music stunned Paris society. A performance of primitive rhythms propelled a ballet themed around a sacred ancestral ritual, the sacrifice of a beautiful young woman to the god of Spring. The pagans on stage made pagans of the audience. While attending women tore at their clothes, the rest of the theater erupted into a chaotic riot. Following its premiere, the show’s producer claimed the scandal was “exactly what he wanted.”
We of course find this all very inspiring, and hope you might join us upon the Ides of March to celebrate rawkus good times in the most festive manner to which we’re accustomed. Who’s in?
